Strasbourg canal view along the ill (i-l-l), opposite direction of this area, on the previously posted picture from the same area.
48.5813, 7.7415 on the map.
Charming stroll along the old quarter, side by the canals and between beautiful typical wooden houses, lavishly adormned with flowers and green trees everywhere.
*** A further explanation: Knowing I will draw much criticism about the chopped roof-top on upper right – but could not take the full sight from the corner I was standing, and yet have a full length of the canal, bridge and promenade over the far side.

You chose a very well angle this gives perspective and depth at the picture.
Also the timbered facade to the right side is pleasant to look at.
Excellent panorama view about these area.
Very well done, TFS.

Strasbourg looks very beautiful on your pics with its unique and original design and architecture. I am sure it's a place that it's worth to visit. This canal scene is great taken from a well selected POV to provide us with such a wonderful view.

Bonjour, cher Ike,
Très belle mise en image d'un lieu magique à Strasbourg.
Malgré un ciel peu clément, la beauté du sujet est fort bien mis en valeur.
Très bonne journée.

Strasbourg is a place that never ceases to supply beautiful scenes. Round every corner there is a view worth our attention.
This is lovely. I really like how you have used the red brick wall, with its fanned railings, flamboyantly introducing us to the river, its reflections and the attractive, timber-framed buildings. The green tree helps to break up the vertical arrangement.
A very well composed photograph.
Have a lovely w/e,

What a lovely perspective looking down the canal and taking in all this beautiful architecture; your point of view was very well chosen indeed. Superb colours and detail complemented by some fine reflections.

The length of the canal is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the détails and the colors of the buildings or houses. The cloudy sky does not hurt the output of the colors. Have a nice day.

Very impressive shot of Alsace, with the canal (albeit muddy) running through the historic area. The half-timbered house makes an unusual sight for France, with this veritable Venetian canal.
jemaflor (97227) 2014-05-02 9:38
Well composed with interesting houses and these reflections on the water, interesting perspective and depth, tfs.

Hello Ike, very good photograph of this interesting composition with the architecture along the canal in this beautiful city, very well captured in this interesting image, with good sharpness, depth, light, color and quality. Great job well done, congratulations my friend. Thanks for sharing this beautiful work.
Good night and happy weekend.
Best wishes from southern Spain.

J'aime le POV, la douceur des reflets, la profondeur du canal, le rendu des couleurs et des détails , belle présentation

I noticed the "chopped-off roof top" but seeing also the care you had put into this point of view and composition, realized that you either sacrificed it or had no choice at all. The greatest challenge, for me, is the luminous white sky. You managed to capture great details both on the nearest buildings and in the far background, the characteristics of this view are unmistakable. I like very much how the perspective twists towards the background. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,

It looks like Piotr had much better luck with light than you did. We touring photographers have to take whatever weather conditions, light conditions come our way, and you made the best of it. The reflections on the water are remarkable especially for such muddy water. The DOF is very nice.

a spectacular photo of this place with attractive composition, the colours and lights are beautiful,

un altro bellissimo angolo di questa città, nonostante il cielo non perfetto, la resa è ottima e i dettagli delle facciate sono piacevoli e interessanti.
delpeoples (58062) 2014-05-04 3:36
An enchanting place, and a photo where the light has really worked against you. You did your best in the circumstances, but the light and white skies made this such a difficult shot to take and there is virtually nothing that can be done to assist. But it was part of your holiday and a record of a very charming place. Good on you, thanks for sharing.

I remember this frame :)
It's a beautiful place, worth visiting.
mirosu (16227) 2014-05-05 6:18
An excellent peaceful view along the quiet water channel accompanied by typical Alsace houses. Excellent place to visit. I can imagine to sit there and enjoy a glass of Gewuerzetraminer (which is of excellent quality in Alsace). The reflections are superb.
Very well done.
kato (11630) 2014-05-05 7:49
You're capturing well this place by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the calm winding canal, tasteful wooden structure in medieval times of both sides and flowers in front of building. And, the reflection projected to the canal draws out a good effect.
nikkitta (17066) 2014-05-05 14:03
Really charming city where you found all kind of captures showing houses, chanels, lowers as happens here in a well composed diagonal capture
Good explanation, that way your POV is the good one
* Happy Independence day!
adores (45337) 2014-05-14 15:58
These houses are always very beautiful and even if the weather didn't help you much, you got a nice shot. I like the pov and the details, I'm sure you really enjoyed it there!
jcpix (13930) 2014-05-19 20:23
O.K., what's the deal with having the rooftop cropped out of the frame...you're better than that?!! haha I have to laugh, because this is a problem I'm sure each and every one of us have encountered over time...and more than once, that's for sure! :) Sure, it's a technical detail, but it takes away nothing from what you wanted to present with this shot. The beauty of the city and it's main elements contained within this frame speak for themselves. If we always had the perfect compositions available, I think it would become too routine and mundane. And so, I say "Job well done"...this looks just fine! Enjoy the new day. All the best.
jmdias (64410) 2014-06-19 3:07
it is something like a germanic version of venice. very nice angle, the shapes and the façades are fantastic and liked it a lot. TFS.
ChrisJ (113951) 2014-07-24 7:34
Nice reflections in the still waters of the canal with good sharpness and realistic pastel colours. I like the graphism of the b&w building at right with the cross hatch beams. The big green tree at left counterbalances the composition and contrasts against the man-made surroundings. Tfs!
swapankumarroy (2847) 2014-08-26 8:14
From a nice angle where you shoot this beautiful Strasbourg canal and both side houses. Very well sharped and good color. Well done.
warm regards and thanks,
