Palais des Droits de l'Homme on Allee Rene' Cassin, Strasbourg. The modern edifice of the
European Court of Human Rights. Established 1959 and serve the 47 nations of the Council of Europe.
From a distance it looks as two giant vessels on a collission course….
It was designed by the Richard Rogers Partnership and completed in 1995. Not the best beauty of archi.-design, but an interesting edifice.
Location in Strasbourg: 48.598, 7.7752
The picture was taken through a bus window, and grey sky aloft.

I have to say I find the brutalist architecture rather ugly; the grey sky doesn't help matters either. But you have captured it at a most interesting angle and we have the framing trees to provide some pleasant contrasting colour to offset the predominant greys. Good sharpness.

Intéressante architectures, les touches rouges attire le regard, bien présenter avec les arbres d'un vert frai en avant plan, belle présentation

The trees are helping to frame the scene. The point of vie wis showing the details and the colors of the architecture of Palais des droits de l'Homme. The cloudy sky does not hurt the output of the colors. Have a nice day.

Ike, from a park it's a good view of the palais des droits de l'homme, there are so many things to realise, a news topic, bright hues, perfect sharpness, regards

This is great for having been taken from a bus window. The lines and the curves of these buildings are the photo's strong suit.

Bonjour, cher Ike,
Je ne connaissais pas cet édifice dédié "Aux droits de l'Homme". La preuve en est donnée que le site de TE permet de découvrir des lieux étonnants.
Très bonne mise en image.

Excellent view up to nice modern building. The arrangement with the green trees in foreground is superb. All in very nice light.
Very well done.

its great to see some of the newer styles of architecture in this so famous city.
much different than the classic postcard buildings we usually see.
I know they added the red staircase, but perhaps a bit more color is still needed! :)
educational type of photo for me, excellent TE post.

You're capturing well this place by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see two modern buildings with good design and tasteful stream, and green trees in front.
Royaldevon (27781) 2014-04-08 2:47
The day was not good to you regarding the light but, in your usual way, you have captured the scene sharply, despite the weather.
You have cleverly included the trees for colour and contrast against the solid grey of the buildings.
The red stairway is a very necessary focal colour and shape, strongly placed, amid the grey.
Have a great day,

You took these picture through the window of the bus, what a very well result Ike!
Everything nice sharp and clear, also a very well composition and great architecture picture.
I know, a white sky but everything much very quick.
Nevertheless an exellent picture with this known building.
Very well done, TFS.

The red spiral staircase at left adds interest as well as setting up a nice warm cold color contrast against the grey blue building facades. Good sharpness and shadow detail and well framed and composed. Also this is a superb juxtaposing of the natural green fg vegetation against the mini concrete jungle in the bg. Tfs!

you´re right maybe it´s not the most beautiful architecture, but here in such building and organization the functionality is more important than beauty of the architecture.
But despite from the architectural aspect I really like your POV and presentation of the building. The greenery in the FG as well as red stairs add so important vibrancy and make the graphics more expressive.
Wish You a nice evening

I don't know what to make of these buildings, they look very mysterious. They are very large and somewhat impersonal. They look introvert and their dark windows make me wonder about what's going on inside. Surely, the people who work there have a lot of difficult issues to deal with. I like the contrast of the fresh and vibrant greenery as well as the surprising red tones that challenge my overall impression. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely evening,

an effective photo of this modern architecture, great details and the POV is attractive,

Quite an unexpected and happy surprise Ike! :) After seeing so many traditional and picturesque scenes from the old town of Strasbourg, this is quite a change of pace. The modern architecture sure makes a statement here, and you've done a wonderful job composing these two building in a most pleasing visual. The repeating red pattern to the left, and touches along the rooftops of the building on the right sure stand out against the bountiful greenery and glass & concrete construction. Great idea presenting this original take from Alsace. Enjoy the new day ahead. All the best.

I agree with you it is not the greatest achievement of the Architect ... but it's like a picture ... it is not always on top!.
I did not know this building ... and yet I live in France ... Thanks for sharing.
Good weekend to you and full of good things.
jmdias (53647) 2014-06-06 17:30
