Coincidentally, I have been looking through some old digitised slides today recording a visit I made to Strasbourg in June 1988. I also have a capture of these beautiful half-timbered houses that do not seem to have changed in the last twenty-five years. The close cropping is perfect, concentrating the attention on the detail. A well lit image in which we can much appreciate this lovely architecture.

Shalom Ike. This close view of the buildings makes them look quite enormous and complex. It is great to see such old buildings inhabited and kept in excellent condition. Fascinating details which are made more vivid in the subdued light. Regards. Klaudio.

I had a pleasure to visit Strasbourg a long time ago. I really enjoyed it. I think this type of architecture is present in the whole Germany (not sure about France) but in this region there seems to be indeed a great concentration of houses built in this style.
Lovely presentation of the characteristic style.
Very well done,

a bold tight framing makes us focus on the many patterns, angles and details that compose the architectural character of the picturesque and famous buildings. The constant alternation and repetition of patterns bestows the image with great interest and irresistible vibrancy. You've managed the light very well, the luminous white is an attractive backdrop for the characteristic decoration and it doesn't undermine the surrounding dark or neutral tones. Sharpness is excellent and really exalts your composition. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,

Nice detail from this pretty style of architecture. I pass by a few buildings of this style on my commute, but none of them is this majestic. Well seen and documented.

Excellent detail photo of typical Alsace (and even south Germany) architecture. Similar houses can be found also in some areas in Switzerland. Excellent view up, nice tight crop. I like it very much. Well done.

I generally have an inner struggle trying to cram too much into a composition, especially in places that have so much that can be photographed! I mention that because seeing a image like this reminds me that there is just as much to see in the small details. A smart idea to go in tight with the composition, it's made for an immediate visual impact with the numerous lines, shapes and textures presented here.
It's tough to decide where to "draw the line" and not include too much, and this looks to be the right touch of framing to really bring out the architecture and smaller elements that compliment the main area of focus. Speaking of which, a well controlled exposure to show it off in fine form, no heavy shadows or blown out highlights from the strong presence of white color. Well done in bringing out the charm of Strasbourg. Have a nice weekend.

The details of this half-timbered house in Old Town Strasbourg contribute to this first rate photo. I imagine the building dates to the 16th century.

A goog frame on these houses, good contrast with wood, good angle, interesting architecture, tfs.

Nice graphism and sharpness with wonderful repetition of the triangular patterns and shapes formed by the crossbars of the building. Effective tight framing and the minimalist colour works well here. Tfs!

Oh, Strasbourg, one of my favourite cities visited during our holiday.
This half-timbered house is just glorious with its contrasting colours, patterns and jigsaw-like tiny windows. These close, sharp details give us an opportunity to study them succinctly.
I love how the roof windows are opening like the headlights on a sports car!
Have a good day,

You're capturing well this archirecture by a good macro, excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the wooden architecture with simple tone of white outer wall and black wooden frame, and triangle roof. It is a building with the tasteful design geometrically. It's also impressive that there are many windows in the front and roof. And, it is peaceful that the bowl into which the flower was put is placed before the window in a roof.
