Photographer’s Note
A justly popular sight in Strasbourg is the Gothic cathedral, seen here from among tress along a side plaza (Place du Chateau) instead of from front on as is usual.
The reddish tinge to the sand stone used in the construction give it a different look to other cathedrals. Work started in 1015 but as is often the case with grand cathedrals it wasn't finished until 1439.
Some of the stone work is amazingly fine.

Hello Ian,
I visited this cathedral and I climbed in the arrow by the very impressive staircases. An excellent experiment in a superb monument. Your photograph is very representative of the imposing and high architecture of this cathedral. The colors and clearness are very appreciable. Congratulations.
Have a nice day.
Cordially.
Joël
