Live from Alsatian Yukon Photo

Photographer’s Note

To stick to live events I changed my upload program today to show you the Alsatian Yukon this morning after a full day of snowfall, this is a sunday fitting view of the Kembs-Loechlé church, taken just around the corner of my home, at least 50 cms of snow have fallen since yesterday morning, which happens once in 10 years !

Although this view is the one that you will first discover, today the whole fun is to be found in the attached WS ;-)

Salut Jean-Yves,
Kembs est donc sous la neige ce matin, mais d'après le WS je vois que ça n'est pas pour déplaire à tout le monde! (ça doit être sympa quand elles s'ébrouent en rentrant à la maison après la balade).
Malgré le manque de soleil une photo qui montre bien l'ambiance qui règne chez toi ce matin. J'aime bien le détail de la pelle plantée devant le portail qui montre que certains ont du se lever tôt ce matin pour dégager les trottoir.
Tu devrais régler l'heure sur le 350D, parce que si je regarde les données EXIF je constate que tu vas prendre cette photo dans 5mn... c'est très fort!

Pretty similar down here, Jean-Yves, hope it'll clear up somewhat so I can shoot some photos later. Nice photo to show the unusual weather situation in your village - the diagonal of cleared pathway makes a good detail for the compo; I think the snow should look a bit whiter though (curves adjustment). The WS is great fun :) Have a nice sunday.

Une église sous la neige, et quelle neige ! Par chez nous, quand il tombe 5 cm de neige, cela relève presque de l'exploit !
Je ne puis que me réjouir de voir cette prise de vue, où l'église ne semble pas inquiétée de ce flot de neige.
J'ai bien aimé également la photo en atelier (les chiens s'en donnent à coeur joie, bonjour pour retirer les petites boules de neige sur les poils !) ;o)

Une photo finie de sortir du four. Une image très agréable et froide, et une grande composition. Le beffroi coupé sur ce ciel gris et la neige remplissent tout.

QUoi!une fois au 10 ans,j'aurais cru que l'alsace,étant situé au nord aurait été habitué à ce genre de paysage.
C'est le genre de paysage hivernal que j'aime,au réveil,une transformation radicale comme un geste de magie et combien éphémere,mais quel spectacle sous la lumière du soleil,qui vous fait défaut ici.Je vois que le concierge est plus matinal que vous et a déjà dégagé le passage.
La photo est très bien composée et enchanteresse.

Looking at this I see we have got off lightly! Well composed to allow the dug-out path to lead our eye to the church. The shot in the WS is indeed fun; all I can think of is the time you will have getting the ice-balls out of the fur.

Je vois que l'Alsace est sous un épais tapis également. Nous avons du soleil aujourd'hui et le dégel s'ammorce doucement. Nos chiens s'en donnent à coeur joie également.

About WS version - my golden retriever also loves diving but i suppose He got much more opportunities for such fun (in fact, half - year round) ;)
About original - great work with dull light, exposition is very proper, and vertical framing very good. Looks like in all the Europe winter is not going to retreat.

Quelle couche, sans doute plus humide et molle qu'au Yukon ... belle composition avec ce passage (combien de pelletés ?) qui méne le regard vers l'église.

ouf.... toute cette neige, moi qui me plain de froid et du vent aujourd'hui, c'est promis je ne me plains plus, 50 cm de neige c'est impressionnant, sacré photo, il y a du boulot pour faire la trace et sortir de la maison.

Very fine snower scene. Insteed of our weather conditions (20C here today), the spring is far away there! :)

Good portrait composition and a good use of the path in the snow to lead the viewer in. Good definition and exposure, and the cold atmosphere is well conveyed here. Good work and framing.

A most beautiful church shot Philippe, I mean Jean-Yves, lol! ;) That fluffy snow is so beautiful and what an addition it is. I never seem to have a camera handy when I see snow in the trees like that. Superb shot Jean-Yves!!

I've hear that Europe is having a very cold winter, and here is the evidence. The snow is a challenge for living as well as photography, but this shot shows the effects very well. I like the snow plastered look on the trees and the buildings, which only lasts a short time, meaning the snow is fresh. Well done!

Mon rêve ! !!! un jour me reveiller avec 50cm de neige devant chez moi ....
superbe image de saison, j'adore voir les branches crouler sous le poid de la neige fraîche.
l'église en a vu d'autre ....magnifique!!
Pour info il en est tombé 80cm chez mon Grand Père, situé a Plainfaing(Vosges).
Courage le printemps arrive a grand pas ... ;o))

Hi Jean Yves,
A bleak winter landscape softened however by the stalwart church that withstands all weather. I like the curving pathway and the snow laying heavy on all objects except the tall church tower, strong and true. Well captured.
