Photographer’s Note

Living in a region that borders 2 other countries is not always an easy thing, for example when it comes to TV reception, to make sure you won't be polluted by German or Swiss senders and will stay tuned to "France 3 Alsace" you sometimes have to plug this kind of extra component to your TV antenna ;-))

Morning JY,
A picture you don't see often...because who has stil a anttenna on his roof? In most cases in here in Holland it is longer forbidden to place such a thing on your roof, but it seems on your balcony it's allowed.
Your picture makes also clear how wildlife has adapt to out so called modern life and that they are using it the way they want ;-)
Noticing the rig around his leg it must be a well known stork in your area.

Hello Jean Yves. This is a nice image. The good clarity and colours give it a nice attractiveness. The big bird look very nice standing on the antenna and ceate a nice contrast with the device. Good definition and balance. Nice work.

toujours là au bon moment toi, une optique terrible avec ce piqué ultra-précis à fond de zoom. La photo dépouillée attire directement l'oeil sur cette cigogne télédistributrice.
Et de l'humour comme d'hab, ca fait du bien.

Well kept TE spirit in the note with the mentioning of the borders. I think there is meanwhile Digital TV in this German area, do the stork also protect you against this?

Mais attention ! Tout dépent de l'orientation du bec de la cigogne !!! ;-)
Une très bonne netteté sur cette image amusante ! Le bleu du ciel est très naturel ! La compo est simple mais fonctionne assez bien !

Salut Jean-Yves. Photo très comique. Mais est-ce que cela aide vraiment pour la réception? haha. La photo est bien balancée (comme l'oie d'ailleurs) avec la décentralisation du sujet. Bien vu, bien fait.

Hi Jean-Yves. That's a funny one! The bird was situated in the perfect spot to make the best possible use of the available light. You probably cropped this and I like the way you did it. I never have seen this over here in the U.S. as that must be very advanced French TV technology, lol! ;)

I like the clarty here and the sharp deep colours. Is an interesting mix of science and nature, very similar to a shot I almost posted today! But will do so in a day or two.

Je me demandais si tu n'allais pas prendre un rateau avec ton antenne alsacienne....Finalement France régions devrait garder cette idée pour chaque région.....chez moi, ce serait une antenne cep de vigne qui paraîtrait le mieux adaptée. Bien vu en tout cas et une note emplie de ton humour bien connu.

C'est un dur métier que celui de poseur d'antennes en Alsace, il faut grimper pour implanter ces nouvelles technologies.
Bon humour ! et bonne photo, c'est simple bien coloré et ça parle aux telespectacteurs.

Ah too bad I didn't see this view on my summer trip to alsace
so indeed it is true that there are many of this bird in alsace ? no wonder it becomes the symbol of the area

JY, with that shot you're not covering the french map. You already had many alsacian shots, but you probably can use the stork to get to the two missing regions and do some areal shots.
Seeing storks is certainly a nice thing and interestingly enough living 10 years in Basel and never saw any in that area but as soon as I crossed the border to France (Leymental and Elsass) I started seeing many storks.

Bonjour Jean-Yves,

Voila une photo que je decouvre par hasard et qui m a bien fait sourire. Le titre est tres bien trouvé et l effet est encore plus accentué grace a ce ciel uniforme qui nous oblige a nous focaliser sur les antennes et la cigogne.
J imagine ta photo reprise en dessin format poster par Hansi.
