Photographer’s Note

This is the 7th picture in a series from my recent tour of France's Alsace region, and on the wine trail route to which this series will attempt to give a focus to.

Caught this image at the castle of Koingsburg , I am unsure of what this is or why it was built into the castle wall .
I think it was possibly a gutter spout . I could not keep my eyes off him as he seemed to follow me around .

The castle was rebuilt in the early part of the 20th century circa after more than two centuries of semi-neglect. In 1865 , together with the adjacent forest, it became the property of the town of Sélestat, which in 1899 presented the remarkably well-preserved ruins to the German Emperor William, who entrusted the restoration to architect Bodo Ebhart; this took from 1900 to 1908
Under the Treaty of Versailles 1919, France acquired ownership of this property from the German crown,
