Photographer's Note
The picture was taken on the ramparts of the medieval Haut Koenigsbourg castel (XIth century). The castel is strategically located high in the Vosges mountains overlooking the wide plain of Alsace and has a long and tangled history - very similar to that of the Alsace region - being from the start a German fortress on French land and later on standing as a German symbol in on the French territory.
