Photographer's Note
Hello friends, today I present this beautiful image of the beautiful and interesting canal that crosses the beautiful city of Colmar, in the province of Alsace (France). Hope you like it, then a letter on the city.
Colmar (France: Colmar; Alsatian: Colmer; German: Colmar, between 1871-1918 and 1940-1945: Kolmar) is a town and commune in the department of Haut-Rhin Alsace, France.
It is the prefecture (capital) of the district of the same name.
The old city center, well preserved houses several buildings, sometimes large, German Gothic and early Renaissance and a number of old churches, among which is the collegiate church of San Martín (XIII century) as the largest and most notable.
Local artist Martin Schongauer XV century painted what is considered his masterpiece, The Madonna of the Roses, in the Eglise des Dominicains (Dominican church). The famous Isemheim Altarpiece by Matthias Grünewald highlight is the treasure housed in the Museum Unterlinden city. The museum, opened in 1853, is housed in the former convent of the Dominican order of "Unterlinden" (meaning "under the linden trees").
In 1834, was born in Colmar Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, creator of the famous Statue of Liberty, located in New York City.
Once a year, in August, the Fair hosts Colmar wines.
However, the greatest art is that Colmar retains traditional ambience with its wooden frame houses carefully preserved, filled with flowering geraniums on hot days.
Colmar has an interesting center, studded with old buildings, a famous museum, Unterlinden, and carefully Little Venice.
Furthermore, in the vicinity of the city there are some other points of interest, such as the magnificent town of Riquewihr, and great food and wine care also linger conception of art.
Unterlinden Museum is housed in a former Dominican convent founded in the thirteenth century, with a Gothic cloister considered the best in the region.
About 300,000 visitors come each year to the center, which exposes excellent art exhibitions of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, as well as archaeological and ethnographic, on two floors and a basement.
But the core of this whole attraction is the famous Issenheim altarpiece, painted in the early sixteenth century by Grünewald to decorate a convent chapel Issenheim (20 miles south of Colmar)
The ten paintings of Grünewald are masterful. The painter left an impressive Crucifixion, which amazed the wincing, luminous shades and many details, among which is the painful aspect of Christ's flesh.
This crucifixion of Mathias Grünewald painter has placed as one of the most prominent European and world religious art of all time.
Little Venice, a beautiful set of traditional houses, full of flowers, beautiful half-timbered, line up along the street and Fish Pier, next to the canal.
These houses were owned by fishermen. Also lived in the neighborhood gardeners traditionally used by the channel to drive the fruits to the city market. Today the boats carry tourists rather quiet.
Very near this neighborhood is that of the tanners, with houses of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, lovingly restored.
Around the city center of Colmar houses abound timbered Alsatian, artistic balconies, turrets, balconies and other decorative elements.
In addition to the proliferation of this type of construction, stands in Colmar exquisite care of this important heritage, full of flowers during the most benign.
This gorgeous set spans much of the city, but is particularly notable in the walk from the Cathedral Square to the Old Customs and Little Venice.

Hello Angel,
I like the distance on the water of the small canal giving deepness to the image. The reflections in the water are also adding to the composition. The colors and sharpness of the architectural details of these nices houses makes it a high quality image.
Best regards

Hello Angel,
Living along the canal seems to be very quiet. And from many houses and terraces there are great views.
The half-timbered houses along with the many flowers give a pleasant impression.
The canal provides beautiful reflections and creates an excellent DOF.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Angel,
A very pleasing composition Paula. It allows us to see the shape and colour of the buildings and also to entice us to travel further around the curve in the river. I also like the fact that you added some life with the terrace on the left (that must be a nice place to stay.
Have a nice evening,
Regards,
Maria

Bonjour Angel,
Quel beau village fleuri.

Buen trabajo. Me encanta.
Que tengas una buena semana.
Un abrazo.
Luis.

Hola Angel,
a superb composition that makes the most of the features of this place, the canal and the architecture, to create an impression of harmony and elegance. The canal, the buildings of both banks and the reflections are perfectly placed in the frame; depth and perspective are excellent. There's a very appealing range of pastel and dark colours. Lovely work, congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,
Ourania
