Built over the tomb of St Martin, Bishop of Tours, the basilica depicted here is much smaller that its predecessor which was destroyed at the end of the 18th century. It was built between 1896 and 1924 to the designs of local architect Victor Laloux. The style is a mix of Romanesque and Byzantine.
The basilica also houses a museum depicting the main events in the life of St Martin and offers a history of the site and the various buildings erected here since the first tomb was laid.
Due to space constraints, the picture is a stitch of six images.

Belle Papagolfade dominicale mon Cher !

What a magnificent basilica!
I also like the effects you got in its shapes due to the pov and the stitches!
Sharpness, exposure, colors and composition also please me a lot!
TFS - congratulations!

I'm looking and looking and I can't see one stitch, your reaching seamstress status with your needle work. :)))
I'm not sure about the way the top half of the Basilica seems to be bulging, but as you say you had space constraints.
Anyway it is a great effort, sometimes we just have to appreciate the work that goes into producing an image and admire it for what it is. I do.
I'd love to see the six shots you started with.
Have a good week.

A very interesting picture, in two way. First as a picture of this impressive basilica, secondly as a demonstration of your stitching technique. These is some slight distortion of the cupola but still a very impressive picture. Even the jet tracks in the sky contribute to the composition!

I wish you a Happy New Year.
Friendly from Belgium.

Interesting approach on the basilica in back lights.
Ok you were too close, the stitch is OK but there is one procedure missing, please see the WS.

Good pov to show an historical cathedral, detail to see the unique design and structure of a local cathedral.

Hi Stephen, nice shot! The sky and the sky-writing really accentuate the grandness of this amazing building. You've stitched well, there's only a very slight distortion (which I always like anyway) and the square framing is very apropriate. TFS and have a lovely weekend, Lisa

Your gallery has so many amazing architectural images! This is yet another, and is another spectacular construction. Cant believe that this is a stitching shot. Although I have no idea how this is done, I would imagine its difficult, and to end up with this is great. The people in the shot give such great scale to its vast height.
All the best
pierrefonds (71051) 2015-04-15 16:55
The presence of the people has an effect of scale. The point of view is showing a double perspective of the architecture of the Saint-Martin basilica. The good luminosity is enhancing the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.

The moment captured to display this wonderful architecture is brilliant. The human interest and jet trails on a beautiful day is amazing. Good job and I seriously like this shot.
Thanks and have a nice day,
