Saint-Aignan is located at 215 m of altitude and account approximately 3900 inhabitants.
The castle rises at right angles on the slope of the ditches. Its septentrional frontage dominates the Valley of the Cher river and offers a superb panorama on the Medieval City, the forests, the Island-Beach and the Cher.
In the Rebirth, the castle was a home seigneurial then a pleasant residence, while becoming the dwelling of the Dukes of Beauvilliers.
It was built at the end of the 15th century in the place of the ruins of an old castle of the 12th century whose still exist.
