The sun is slowly going down on the life of the sunflowers and they have turned their heads in shame.
Just like humans the sunflower was in its element when it was young and vibrant and on display in all its glorious youthful majesty.
Yet it is now when at the end of its life that it reaches its usefulness.
The vibrance of youth grows into the wisdom of aged.
Don't hang your head, rather lift it up to the setting sun for tomorrow is a new day.

This is really different but I like it!. The sunflowers turning away from the sun is something powerful (and very well complemented by your note!). In fact I can not image why nobody has critiqued or commented this photo yet.
Regarding composition (well, I admit that I have always been inclined for tight FOV!), maybe I would crop a part of the sky (just a little above the tree top).

This is a lovely shot. I like the contrast and the way the sun dictates the tone of the shot. It almost looks as if you have changed the contrast in the picture to draw out the flowers. Quite different to traditional photos of sunflowers.
