Photographer’s Note

A surprising tax!
The Castle of the Fountain to Griselles XVIIème and XIX centuries. Park in the English of 7 hectares.
If you look well at the photography, you'll notice that certain windows or French windows were condemned (filled) to
avoid paying the tax.
Indeed, if windows and doors were condemned, the owner wasn't a tax-payer. The tax was calculated according to the number of doors and windows.
The footnotes of history about the tax on windows and doors:
In 1798, under the Directory ( 1st Republic), Minister of finances Ramel will create the contribution of doors and windows; tax killed(abolished) in 1925, but which from 1917, isn't more collected than in the form of additional centimes by departments and municipalities.
