The castle of Mez-Ie-Maréchal
The castle of Mez-Ie-Maréchal is one of the built medieval fortresses when each had to assure his defence all on one's own. Its massive silhouette seems taken out quite straight ahead of the Middle Age and we have anybody has difficulty in imagining the Lord of the Mez leaving for crusade.
The current strong castle dates the XIIIth century.

Nice image concentrating on the detail of the stone work and small archery windows of the castle with the strong gothic arch of the door creating a good central contrast.
Nice composition.

imposantes tours qui prennent un aspect d'autant plus austère que le ciel qui l'accompagne est sombre.
je pense que l'on devait y reflechir à deux fois avant de se lancer à l'assaut !!

Impressionnante, cette bâtisse ! La lumière ne semblait pas au rendez-vous, mais la symétrie est joliment construite autour de la grande porte. Les textures sont bien rendues.
Ca ne devait pas être du gâteau de venir en ennemi.

Bonjour Phillipe, a beautiful picture of this mosscovered stronghold with its firm round towers and its subtile gothic arch in the middle. I likwe the way the picture shows thestones that form the mozaic.

Well, if there ever was a crisp photo of old textural stonework, this is the one. Simple but appropriately-chosen centered framing, with a nice tonal range and well-contrasted detail all over. Nice photo, Philippe.

Elle en impose cette photo.
pas besoin de blinder la porte, ces 2 tours imposantes sont assez dissuasives.
Il existe les mémes tours à l'entrée de la ville de Domme dans le Périgord.

I like this kind of strong simple compositions. The beautiful curved walls covered with moss and ivy-grown. The gateway is a beautiful element in the centre of the picture.

The massive walls overwhelm us. I like the worn look of the heavy doors. Every detail of the exterior is well seen here and the archway contrasts well with the stone work, also giving a good sense of proportion. Well seen and captured, Philippe.
