A view of the interior of the Collegiate Church of Saint Martin in the village of Candes-Saint-Martin, Indre et Loire département. The picture is a horizontal stitch of two images.
The church is reputed to stand on the place where Saint Martin of Tours died in 397. He had come to the area to convert the people and established the first church some years before he died. He was originally buried in his church at what was then known as the village of Candes. His remains now rest in Tours. Legend has it that the monks from Tours came by night to steal his body and carry it back to the cathedral in Tours.
The existing church dates from the 12th and 13th centuries; it was later fortified in the 15th century, making it one of the rare fortified churches of the Touraine. It is notable for its Plantagenet Gothic style and the many statues that decorate its façade, as well as the stained glass windows tracing the story of the relics of Saint Martin, including the 'theft' of the remains.

En l'absence de toute personne, il semble y régner "un silence de cathédrale" ;o) Cet endroit est digne de silence.
Très hautes ces colonnes austères, très belle la nef de la collégiale. Merci du partage.

Hi Stephen, oooh look at all those lovely straight lines. I'm envious. the symmetry here is excellent and I really like the small shaft of light iluminating the chairs in the FG. Hope you don;t mind me pinching this photo for my Theme on Symmetry. Great job, Lisa.

Une belle lumière pour cette photo d'intérieurqui rend bien la majesté et le dépouillement de l'endroit. Le POV bien choisi donne une agréable impression de symétrie légèrement décentrée. Bon travail une fois encore.

A fantastic internal shot with available lighting. The symmetrical perspective of the chairs is greatly interpreted with the angle from the point of view you adopted! Well done!
Have a nice afternoon
