Built between 1827 to 1838, this "Pont-Canal" (Canal-Bridge ?) was intended to allow barges and riverboats to go from the side-canal of the Loire River to the other side of the river (joining the Briare Canal).
This bridge, 622 meter long, has hold the record of the longest metallic "canal bridge" until 2003 !
It has a unique "romantic" flavor due to its strange situation (as a typical 19th century technology piece of work)in the middle of the countryside in the center of France.
