Photographer’s Note

The Church Saint Martin de Bossay dates from XIème century, it was founded in 1024 by Gauzbert Seigneur of Preuilly and Bossay. It gave this church to the Abbey St Pierre de Preuilly. The commune counted nine vaults formerly! The village shelters an Archaeological and Prehistoric Museum. Formerly Claise brought the driving force of a blast furnace, around a certain number of forging mills functioned until the middle of the XIXème century.

Of course, that's what I except from you my friend: Churches. And they are a very interesting subject and very photogenic, as well. This seems to a Romanic one, I guess, may be the ones that you like more. I prefer th Gothic one. I find the entrance of this one very interesting, because that structure on the sides of the door doesn't seem very common. Excellent shot, with a beautiful and attractive sky. I love the way you composed it in a tight crop, filling up the whole image.

Avec une telle note intéressante et spécialisée, on ne peut que faire tout le tour (visible) de cette église pour y retrouver les détails précisés. Excellent cliché qui prouve que notre patrimoine architectural est souvent sous estimé.

Commentaire court mais complet, l'avis d'un pro. Curieux édifice qu'on dirait retapé en briques de béton contemporraines.
Aurait-elle souffert cette église ?
Photographoer par belles lumières sous un joli ciel, elle dégage toutefois un certaine fierté d'être là.

Bonjour mon ami Philippe,
Je suis enchanté que tu retournes à ton style tellement didactique de nous montrer les belles églises de ton pays à travers tes belles photos.
Cette composition est très bien cadrée, avec une bonne illumination, un parfait contraste, et couleurs très bien saturées. J'aime l'oiseau en volant qui as capturé à droite de l'image, en soulignant sur les beaux nuages.
Tu sais déjà que je suis un amant de la bonne architecture, qui j'aime la voir photographiée, et ton travail contribue à ma connaissance sur elle.
Merci beaucoup pour ces travaux tellement bons.

Another church, Philippe, but how could you resist - it is so lovely, so photogenic:) You've captured it with wonderful clarity and sharpness, and with very good detail in the stonework. Maybe I would like just a little more space in the foreground because it seems a tiny bit cramped, but that's a minor issue. I like this shot very much - well done.

"Perfectives et lignes de fuites", c'est parfait, il faut dire que dégagée le monument se prête à ce bon cadrage et à cette présentation.

A good entry for your ever-growing catalogue of churches, Philippe. This one surely fills the frame well, and you were lucky to have some quite favorable sunlight in order to enhance the rich details of the stonework and façade elements. The in-flight bird near the tower is a good add.

I think, you have to a exhibition organize about the churchs in France, always very well presentations with original colours, a pity for the France churchs the quality is not optimally. But you chose again a excellent angle we see a good perspective a and splendid sky.

I think maybe the bird is a small thing in the composition,but it has a great and strong rule here,very fast the eyes attracts to it,

The light on the church is splendid, giving a real glow to these old stones. I like the tight crop allowing nothing to intrude, although there is a particularly beautiful sky.

Hi Philippe, A nice PoV and DoF to this church picture. Nice contrast you have managed to this image under the bright sunlight. Good capture of the flying bird on the side. The blue sky has provided an excellent background to this church picture.

C'est le meilleur point de vue pour obtenir une image architecturale dans l'espace, une image volumétrique avec le clocher et la croix en points forts.

Bonjour Papagolf, si seulement il y avait de si belle église en Belgique, mais surtout comme celle-ci bien dégagée de toutes végétations et mise en valeur dans un endroit ou l’on puisse l’admirer, et celle ci elle doit l’être admirée, d’ailleurs l’on ne voit qu’elle remplissant toute l’image, plus encore que pour les hommes dont la mémoire est courte, les églises au vu des traces subies au court des années, des guerres, et qui sont bien visible tel des cicatrices à l’image, mais qui recèle plus encore de trésors lorsqu’on les restaures, récemment un maçon m’expliquait que sa spécialité était de renforcer les fondation, et l’on retrouvait fréquemment des vestiges humains et des reliques, si je raconte tous cela c’est que pour l’instant je suis en contacte avec des gens bien sympathique et qui me racontent pas mal de choses du passé de leur église et qui m‘ont autorisé à photographier de l‘intérieurs, bien amicalement

I must say it could have been a bit better by using a wider angle (if possible) and more place for the ground in front of the church. Wider angle is a think needed here because of the beautiful clouds we can see the glimpse of.
But you've found excelent old church with excelent colours.

Hi Philippe,
Crisp and clear presentation of this ancient church. I like your POV and the angled appearance of the structure. The pruned tree on the right provides balance and a sense of proportion and you even captured a bird clearly in flight. The lighting is well managed here, with subtle shadow effects.

An old gold from your archives. The church has pretty plain exteriors, but stands regally against the sky. The angle of your shot allows us to see two sides of the building. Well done!
