Aulnay-the-River: Mean planted place of trees. At the XIXème century, was called Aulnay-Rocheplatte, of the name of the retributive lord of the place the castle of Rocheplatte 1726 was built on ruins of the old castle of the Strikes going back to 1060. . The fortress known as of the Strikes was destroyed in 1240, was rebuilt, then burnt in 1427. Gallo-Roman vestiges: fragments of potteries, walls.
