Some towns have a front that is completely old, without any modern architecture. These towns are getting rare.
Argenton-sur-Creuse is a town of wich you can make a sepia picture so that it looks like a picture in the early 20th century, because there is not a building built after that time.

j'aime beaucoup ce côté vieille photo : c'est vrai qu'en voyant cette vue on ne voit rien de moderne qui pourrait faire penser que cette photo ait été prise à notre époque. Joli POV également

I agree with your views ... these old house are worth preserving as they are our heritage and our window to the past. Is this an old scanned photo? Even if it is old it still looks good ...TFS.

Dag Gerrit, as you write in your note, the town is really old so you only have to apply sepia and here you go, but I can tell you it's not only that, your POV here is very good as well. Very nice old postcard!

Next photo in old style. I like the composition and frame. Very impressive picture! Good work.

A peculiar composition, where we can see this village with its old architecture, and with a treatment of PP in sepia that gives a really old aspect him.
A very interesting work.

Bizarre! I could have sworn I already critiqued this, & the 'useful' button has already been clicked. I like the sepia tones here & graphism of the 2 towers against the sky. Well done!

une série rétro, bien choisi de ces villages du centre de la france, il semble que cette photo date des années 1900 et pourtant 2003 c'est pas loin, belle impression de rétro

sepia suits your composition and I know this area very well, we have a house not too far from Argenton. I see the house (the blue house!) second from the right was for sale when you were there....it is still for sale three years later. Huub (king) posted a view called 'the blue truck'. A good capture Gerrit.

I agree; the place does look as if it belongs well in the past. The houses are unusual with their overhanging windows and the church towers over them all.

I see from your last posts you're into sepia mood these days.. I like the old postcard look that results from such a treatment, and you had a very good PoV here, normally old postcards often had the place name written on them as I tried on this picture, but unfortunately I have lost this nice ancient font and can't find it again grrrrr... !
Have a nice week end,

Another one old postcard. Although I would prefer to see it in colour, but I must admit that the mood at the image is great. Good composition.
Have a nice day.

This has an old postcard look. I think the sepia tones go well with the architecture & old houses..gives a timeless appeal

Très beau travail.

Hi Gerrit - very interesting vintage effect, the absence of electrical wires help a lot to give it a timeless atmosphere, the unrenovated condition makes the effect appear more authentic.

This is indeed an old town and the sepia enhances the old=fashioned feel.

I was looking at some photos from this area and I discovered this one taken by you (my parents are leaving 16kms away from Argenton s/Creuse)...so I could not resist to have a look at it ;)
Definitely the sepia treatment worked well for this compo giving the impression of an ancient post card!
