Photographer’s Note
Let us continue our visit at Guedelon, today the basket maker
The basket maker is useful for the building site because the baskets are used to transport materials necessary to the construction of the castle (sand, stones, ground...). The wicker is the plant which is used to manufacture a basket. There are several types of baskets: the small ones, the large ones, the broad ones and in the shape of hood. In the Middle Ages, they knew the technique for the tight baskets, this technique is lost, the basket makers of the building site seek it. Some time the basket maker makes a mixture of colors in its baskets with wicker yellow, red, greenish and maroon.

Thierry

Beautiful colours Guy. The photo has plenty of information about the basket maker with materials and tools evident around him. A very interesting series. The coloure are superb.

Salut Guy,

Hello Guy. This is a good picture of the basket maker at work. You can see the concentration in his face as he focuses on what he is doing. The wider scene shows the products of his trade and puts the moment in context. I think it is a slightly "busy" image and it might be better to get a little closer but this is not always possible. In any case it's still a very good result.
