Photographer’s Note

The "Hôtel-Dieu" is the highlight of Beaune, the small city in the heart of the Burgundy vineyards. In the XV th century Nicolas Rolin built there a hospital, making use of Beaune's location at the junction of important roads. The building is spectacular for displaying masterpieces of Burgundy painted rooves, but for symbolic reasons and because I did not visit at the right time of the day I prefer to show you the "Grande salle des «Pôvres»" (written in ancient french, for those who wondered...) where the poor people were looked after by the sisters, the furniture that looks bit too luxurious for the middle age dates from 1875.
