Palliative care is an excellent initiative, but when you visit the "Hotel-Dieu" or "Hospices de Beaune", you might wonder whether this is really a new idea.
Look at this wonderful kitchen where the nuns are at work and just imagine the wonderful meals they were preparing for their pensionnaires... what else could you dream about with just a glass of "Côte de Beaune" or even Gevrey-Chambertin to ease the digestion :-)
... and above all, far above all ! .... think that you were able to contemplate this pure "chef-d'oeuvre" called le Jugement Dernier by the flemish painter Rogier Vander Weyden (in fact Rogier de le Pasture since he was born in Tournai). This is to me THE true masterpiece of the history of painting.
OK... I agree... if they were about to die were probably frightened by the horrible treatment promised in hell ... but, were they conscious of living among such "chefs d'oeuvres" ?
