Photographer’s Note

Hôtel-Dieu is a medieval hospital at Beaune in Burgundy. It was donated by Chancelor Nicolas Rolin in 1443. He and his wife Guigone financed as well the building and made possible the running of services by donating best vineyards to the hospital. Until today the donation finances homes for the aged at Beaune.
The hospital itself ran until World War II as a hospital, than became a museum. Now it is fully furnished and visitors can get an impression of being a patient in a hospital in medieval times.
