After a rainy visit to the medieval château de Couches in Burgundy, on our way home towards Beaune trough some backwater local routes we came across this charming roman church in midst of some vineyards. It serves as the perfect epitome to the thousands of years old relationship of the church with wine and winemaking.
Don't ask me the name of the church or even the village it was standing, it was thus of the beaten path that I couldn't even retrace the road we where on.

A beautiful little church, almost like a mini cathedral. What a nice find on a back road, especially as its set so nicely into this natural landscape. The red tint to the roof adds a nice color contrast to the blues and greens too. Great find, and as you say a charming link to the church and the winemaking.

The composition presents such a pleasing mix of colours in a simple setting. Sometimes, it is true that beauty is everywhere around us, even off the beaten path!

The colors are striking. I can feel the tension between the peaceful terrain and the tumultuous sky.

Another beautiful shot.. light and spacey, as a water color painting..
