In Lanobre, le château de Val, 14th 15th centuries. Registered on Historic monuments since 1946.

The château de Val is remarkable with its bulwarks flanked by 6 towers with machicoulis.
Having dominated the valley of the DORDOGNE during centuries, it is now in waters of the reservoir of the Bort-les-Orgues dam since 1951.

The dam of Bort-les-Orgues on the DORDOGNE, 183 meters high with its foundations and 390 meters long, retains 477 millions of m3 in a reservoir 1 070 hectares and 21 km long. Its settled power is 240 MW. It produces 310 GWH/YEAR.

_ The DORDOGNE is formed in its origin, of brooks taking their spring up to 1694 meters in height, on the sides of the Puy de Sancy in the Massif Central. After a course of 483 kilometers, and the crossing of a catchment basin of 23870 km², it flows in the Garonne, at the bec d'Ambès in the estuary of Gironde, before joining the Atlantic Ocean. The status of the Dordogne made sometimes discusses, between that of an tributary river of the Garonne, or that of a river flowing into the Atlantic Ocean, by the estuary of the Gironde.

Beautiful scenery and softness in the tone and texture of the photograph. The composition justifies the uniqueness of the location of the castle .... The notes state that this scenery was not as seen today - with the waters of the dam. However it is not difficult to imagine that the castle was on raised ground atop a hill.
The clarity of the photograph lies in the details of the variety of shades.
The framing is appropriate.

Hello Joel.
One of your most beautiful shots for a long time, I think. It allows more space around the architecture than you usually show, and the water and the marvellous sky set the atmosphere. It doesn't look like Summer, but the gentle light can make a very good picture when the sky is dark like this. The towers of the chateau look superb, and the composition provides good foreground interest. Thanks for your note which explains that this is a dam on the Dordogne.

Bonjour, cher ami Joël,
nous pouvons voir comment l'orage s'approche depuis le côté gauche de la photo, tandis que l'architecture merveilleuse du château a encore une lumière douce.
J'aime la verdure des arbres qui entourent le château, la beauté du lac artificiel créé par le réservoir, et la profondeur du paysage.
Les couleurs ont une haute qualité malgré le jour gris et nuageux.
C'est une belle réalisation.

Merveilleux château avec ces tourelle quelle vue quel composition d'image avec ce lac à côté fantastique ce ciel lourd, une symétrie parfaite de l'iamge , le tourt sont en lignée avec un ouverture dans le ciel fantastqiue ensemble.

This could have been a picture of a past century; not really any modern items are visible (you have perfectly hidden the blue boat behind the bush). A very pleasant composition with the beautiful landscape turning blue in the distance. Interesting workshop pictures and note!

La météo, et sans doute la température de l'eau, ne devaient pas inciter à la baignade, ce jour-là ! Très bon cadrage, avec l'arbuste et la petite plage au premier plan, et belle profondeur de vue créée par l'ouverture sur le lac, à gauche. La note comme les liens sont toujours aussi intéressants !

Une magnifique composition, avec cette vue magnifique sur le beau château, qui est spectaculaire avec toutes ces tours coiffées de toits coniques, son emplacement sur le bord de l'eau, augmente sa beauté dans l'environnement, malgré le temps nuageux est une vue spectaculaire.

Picture is taken from a great point of
view and has a great composition and
light management. A nice (but small)
detail is the stone wall right in the
picture: that give the picture an extra
