In Lanobre, le château de Val, 14th 15th centuries. Registered on Historic monuments since 1946.

The château de Val is remarkable with its bulwarks flanked by 6 towers with machicoulis.
Having dominated the valley of the DORDOGNE during centuries, it is now in waters of the reservoir of the Bort-les-Orgues dam since 1951.

The dam of Bort-les-Orgues on the DORDOGNE, 183 meters high with its foundations and 390 meters long, retains 477 millions of m3 in a reservoir 1 070 hectares and 21 km long. Its settled power is 240 MW. It produces 310 GWH/YEAR.

_ The DORDOGNE is formed in its origin, of brooks taking their spring up to 1694 meters in height, on the sides of the Puy de Sancy in the Massif Central. After a course of 483 kilometers, and the crossing of a catchment basin of 23870 km², it flows in the Garonne, at the bec d'Ambès in the estuary of Gironde, before joining the Atlantic Ocean. The status of the Dordogne made sometimes discusses, between that of an tributary river of the Garonne, or that of a river flowing into the Atlantic Ocean, by the estuary of the Gironde.
