| Fish sellers in early rainy morning. Silakkamarkkinat or Herring market is an annual very old tradition which takes place in the beginning of October an lasts 7 days. Fishermen from various parts of Gulf of Finland, Turku Archipelago and Aland Isles arrive by their boats to sell fish and other products. Since the 50-60īs this tradition has - like almost everything else too - lost something of itīs original purpose and become more of a tourist attraction... but it is still nice to see old boats and fishermen in the South Port of Helsinki though not seen in this picture. |
