[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Another image from our (Shirgold and I) amazing Safari up in the cold wilderness of Kussamo, Finland.

We proved here that snowmobiles aren't necessarily always reliable by getting stuck "somewhere" along the way.We must thank modern technology as after a quick cellphone call we had a replacement waiting for us at the nearest checkpoint.Shir and I then doubled up to go and pick it up (not the most enjoyable experience for the guy at the back!)

This image was taken late in the day.I liked how the sun was disappearing behind the trees so I decided to concentrate on that and create a silhoette.

You can see other images and read all about our experiences in Shirs' travelogue.

The rays of light across the sky and the snow are really quite amazing, David! Great image (fun story too)

Hello David,

Daniel.

Hi David

A wonderful winterscape, with superb lighting & contrast. I like the strong backlight. Tfs!

Very nice silhouette of Shir, David!
Your composition is just beautiful, with the path stretching into the depth of the scene, the sun rays curves the outer rim of the vegetation, the clouds in the sky spread like a painting - amazing!
I feel that raising the mid tones by a bit could be helpful in removing the dark dominance...
other than that, a picture full of adventure and atmosphere!
TFS!

Hi David,
Stunning winter's landscape caught in the days fading sun light as you wait for the rescue.
Regards, Tom

Hi Dave,
Soon it will be a year since that adventure and your posts keep on coming :-)
I guess you miss the cold

Hi David,
Good exposure levels and shadows.
TFS

I like the light, both on foreground and on the sky back there, and shadows in your shot, David... I can imagine the situation here, I had something similar in Colorado, fortunately in an area with a lot of "traffic". Regards, Daniel

Hi David. Nothing is 100% reliable. Good advert for cell phones though. Great photo. the strong backlight has created a remarkable image. Well composed and exposed. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi David,
Good idea to take advantage of such a low Sun to catch the dark silhouettes of the trees, the snowmobile and his pilot, during this inopportune breakdown while you were waiting for help.
The contrast is hard but it has a great visual impact. I like this shot.
Regards,
Josep
