[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Turku has a long history as Finland's largest city and administrative centre, but has, over the last two centuries, given up both titles to Helsinki. To this day, the city's identity stems from its status as the oldest city in Finland and the country's former capital. Originally, the word 'Finland' referred only to the area around Turku (hence the title, 'Finland Proper' for the region).
The government offices that remained in Turku were finally moved to the new capital after the "Great Fire of Turku", which almost completely destroyed the city in 1827. After the fire, a new and safer city plan was drawn up by German architect Carl Ludvig Engel, who had also designed the new capital, Helsinki. Turku remained the largest city in Finland for another twenty years.
From medieval and old historical ages remained just few buildings: Turku Castle and Cathedral and a old windmill on Samppalinnanmaki Hill.

Hi George,
Dynamic image, very well framed! Good thing you don't cut into the wings at all...
Interesting lighting, details are very well captured...
Well chosen point of view!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Intersting POV George. I like that lights you got here. This old mill works? I ask that because a more long exposition time would gives ideia of moviment on it.

Great photo and nice choice for monochromatic.

thanks
Andre

An original point of view, from bottom to top, of this old wind mill. I am usually not much in favor of sepia color, but it goes well in this image. Intesting note.

All the best,

Emmanuel

WOW!!! Another great picture I love the POV and the sepia was a perfect decision. Thanks for sharing.

Hi George
A dynamic shot and one that sweeps across the scene. I like the angle from which you have photographed the blades of the windmill. Nice sepia effect too as it seems to have given the scene and eerie feeling. Nice work.

Let Don Quichote get a hold of that one! Great sepia tone and angle to make it look even more imposing.

Hi George!
Nice sharp windmill silhouete.I like angle of view and a little sephia tone.Good light and I like how it look mighty. Regards!

Hi George, missed this one. Nice upwards perspective of the windmill, and sepia works very well here. I like how the silouette of the mill is placed against the line of the transition of light, and also how the wings are turned, so they form different planes. Nice framing by the trees as well. Beautiful and inspiring shot, really.

Cheers
Alexander

Superb perspective, sepia is OK in here. I added it to a theme about windmills. The longer I look at it the more I like it.

Hello George,
Un POV en contre plongée très interessant.
La perspective qui en découle est parfaite, elle donne de la hauteur au moulin, il en es plus imposant.
Un paaage en sépia qui donne une atmosphère intemporelle.
Best regards.
Daniel.

Hi George. Good to see a different interpretation on this iconic symbol. I love the POV and the treatment you have given this subject. Thanks for sharing.
