[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This image reminds me of a song recited by Bilbo Baggins (The Hobbit) at the end of his journey back to the shire.Coming to the top of a rise he sees his home in the distance, and stops and says the following:

****************************************
Roads go ever ever on,
Over rock and under tree,
By caves where never sun has shone,
By streams that never find the sea;
Over snow by winter sown,
And through the merry flowers of June,
Over grass and over stone,
And under mountains of the moon.

Roads go ever ever on
Under cloud and under star,
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar.
Eyes that fire and sword have seen
And horror in the halls of stone
Look at last on meadows green
And trees and hills they long have known.
*****************************************

A reminder of the beauty of winter in wild northern finland.

What a wonderful note :D
The colors in the picture are lovely, so pure and so crips!
I would haver personally probably chosen to take the road slightly off-center either vertically or horizontally. Perhaps a bit lower POV, to leave the road disappearing into the 1/3rd bottom part would have worked better :) That way we would have seen the snow on the sides and on the trees also as even more impressive :D
A beautiful sight nevertheless! :D
Thanks for sharing such a cool image on such a hot summer day ;)

Hi David,
Nicely framed photo with the snowy road running between the trees laden with snow. Your light managementment is impeccable in the difficult situation of high contrasts. I like the note as well, it adds much to the presentation.
Regards, Pat

Hi David,
What are you doing my friend......summer is finally here, we don't want snow pictures ;-)
Serious, you have taken this one very nice, great use of depth and the path is leading forever.
Also good exposed, capturing snow is not that easy...well done.

Hi David,

This is maybe the any cooling down with 30° Celsius in Belgium, excellent depth and good perspective, excellent composition in spite of the winter picture in summer!

Best regards,
John

Hi David,
It is a pleasure to contemplate your photo while I am to 30ºC in Barcelona. He is very refreshing, but in addition, I like his simplicity, only the way and the trees to both sides, totally snowed, that it leads to us towards the infinite.
It is a very pretty composition, very well illuminated and with the perfect colors. Good balance between light and shades, also.
Regards,
Josep

Nice quotation from the Hobbit, although Bilbo's roads were probably less straight than that one. A nice snow landscape, which I find very refreshing with the current warm weather we are currently experiencing in Paris at the moment (31 C°).

All the best,

Emmanuel

Bilbo Baggins eh?
Well I don't remember this song in the film version. Still, you have given us a good insight into the wilds of Finland. Great perspective and depth here. I like the snow covered trees and the impact generated by the blue sky. Nice shot and good note too.
Aubrey

Excellent snowscene; possibly needed by some people at the moment to cool them down.
Sun on snow is possibly one of the most difficult things to expose for and you have done a wonderful job. Good work.

Hi David,
Yes, the road goes ever on and on...I often recite part of this verse from The Hobbit when I am walking footpaths. I like the winter tones and clarity here. Clean crisp and cold, this scene is nevertheless inviting. The exposure level seems just right and the road it nicely just off centre. Well seen and captured.
John

Lovely image David. I’m pleased I don’t get snow that heavy in my back yard. The road leads the eye right into your image giving it great depth. Great technique, well captured and thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.
