May Day celebrations (2/5)
May Day market at the Central Square of Tampere. City Hall in the background (build 1890, renovated 2004). Trash, candy and silly t-shirts for sale. Good time to shoot action and happy faces in spite of possible hangover.
May Day (Vappu in Finnish) is the only photogenic carneval type holiday in Finland. (In New Years Eve it's too dark, and in Midsummer everybody is at countryside and streets are deserted.)
A fairly good English description of Finnish Vappu can be found at Wikipedia.

I really like market shots. They are a challenge to give the sense of activity without presenting chaos; also there is a uniting sameness throughout the world, yet each has individual telling details about the specific area. You have accomplished all of this well; with the tidy garb of the celebrants and neatly laid out stalls against the background of the classic building. The overall order contrasts sharply with shots I took last night, the architecture is non-descript California beachtown, the placment reflects convenience rather than planning with each stall backed up by the everpresent motor vehicle.
In addition to the excellent framing the detail is good throughout. I might of been tempted to use the dodge tool on the girl's face to lighten it a bit, but I'm often too much of an interventionist and what you've presented works well.
