Well, the title might be a bit too strong, but it was really raining that day as you can see on the left hand side of the pic. This shot was taken from the island Iso Vasikkasaari just in front of the city of Espoo that acctually belongs to the Helsinki Metropolitan area. There was several of us. We came for a evening chill off after some afterjob sailing to have some sasuages and other meat. And this is one of the things you can do at quite many places in front of Helsinki. There are dozens of little huts with fire place made for grilling. there is even chopped would available - and everyhthing for free. Maybe this quote is not so strange for Scandinavians, but for me as a Croatian it is pretty marvelous to have these nice free convinient opportunies.
Technical details:
The pic has undergone some beautification in PS.
I added some saturation to colors and contrast, but most of the nice effect came from the conversion from raw format to jpg using sigma photo pro software. I also cropped the bottom part of it and straighten the horizon. |

Beautiful dramatic sky, amazing colors and rays of light. Perfectly exposed although I think if you applied a ND grade filter you could extend to the shutter speeds which might create an interesting effect on the water. Either way it turned out great!
HI Alan,
The opposition between yellow and blue is magnificent.
It makes me think about an exotic island somewhere in the Pacific, rather than the Helsinki suburbs... but I've never been there.
