| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is one of the most beautiful buildings in Helsinki. It is located in the part called Eira, and it most probably one of the most expensive real estates in the city, where a square meter can go up to 10 kEuro+. The building is on the edge of a waterfront which looks upon archipelago. There is nothing blocking your view to the sea except the marina.
Furthermore, this is one of the classic representatives of the Jugend art styles in architectures. Helsinki is by the way full of Jugend architecture that dominated on the turn of a century.
Eira is famous for its "lungo mare" where for any sunny day thousands of Helsingians are conjurying for a cup of coffee or a quiet stroll down by the sea. In the winter you can enjoy a very special walk on the frozen sea. Usually the ice gets thicker than 20 cm so you can safely enjoy this specialty. In the summer you sail and in the winter you walk. This is maybe the best way to remembe Helsinki anyway. |

Hi Alan,
It is a fine piece of architecture shot on lovely bright but low October light. Great contrast between yellow and blue.
