Photographer’s Note

Autumn colours on birches and aspens by the lake Suolijärvi. I wonder if other languages have a special name for autumn colours. In Finnish it is called 'ruska'.

Same view in winter.

Hi Kari,

Gorgeous autumn scenery! The colors are fantastic. In Brazil we haven't a real autumn. In Brasilia many trees were with leaves yellow-brownish, they fall creating a colorful carpet, but its happened at the end of our dry season. Great composition, excellent light.

Hi Kari,
Beautiful colours even if I would call this "early autumn" as i see you took this picture in september. I tried the Google translation of "ruska" and got "höstfärger" ("autumn colours") in Swedish. But the Swedish word "rusk" comes to my mind, but that means just "wet weather". Not unusual at this time of the year either...

Wonderful fall colours and also beautiful reflections on the lake, which also has lovely colour tonalities. One could believe this is in the middle of nowhere, but from the map one can see how close this is to the city suburb areas. A joy to view!

Hi Kari, as we are coming into Summer here - and humid weather - it is lovely to see the golden tones of Autumn and much crisper weather. This is a lovely composition, the texture of Autumn is always a welcome sight. Great job, TFS, Lisa.
