Rain in a lake Photo

Photographer’s Note

I have very seldom carried a good camera with me in a rainy day, not even this time. We were picking blueberries near one of my favourite lakes in Nuuksio lake uplands. The name of the lake is Holma-Saarijärvi. We were more or less done, when a light rain started and we began to walk back towards our car. I liked the atmosphere of the lake wrapped up in a misty rain. So I took my mobile phone and shot a photo. The quality is not the best, but I hope you like the result anyway.

I adjusted the levels and contrast in PP.

cell phones can come in handy sometimes ;) Very good quality of the image!
This view looks familiar to me, though, most probably, I am mistaken :) I like the rainy mood and the hazy distant trees. Very good sense of depth, by the way!

Hej Lasse,
A very good Nokia picture, you can really do anything with your phone nowadays. But I´m waiting for a phone you can use as a shaver as well... However, an excellent picture, showing the melancholy of a Nordic lake on a rainy day. Good depth with those trees in the foreground.

For a mobile phone this seems very good indeed. I guess there was some pp needed to get something out of the sky. I often love these pictures from hazy days or in a light rain. They have a softness of the colours that can hardly be achieved in bright sunshine. As far as the scenery is concerned, it's just like Sweden, as I have mentioned before. Very nice, and a bit nostalgic. There is a strong reminder of childhood.

Hallo Lasse!
Taking the camera with you really was worth this day. The rainy and dull atmosphere makes this landscape even more calm and in a certain way even solemn. A really wonderful place with these rocks, abraded by glaciers.
Concerning blueberries I hope you have had good luck in hunting! Here they become more and more seldom ...

Ah! you are back to your favourite theme!
I must say you hit the target: the photo has really a rainy atmosphere and a very fine one. This lakes-and-forests have indeed a lovely charm even with gray weather and one expect to see a hobbit getting out of a bush... (:-) - I like it, and I like even the not so sharp trees in the bg (due to the cellular phone) which looks like they were in the fog!
It reminds me of a photo I took in the Stockholm archipelago with the same weather (but the quality was inferior). The silhouette of that dead branch almost at the center is so lovely!

the quality of this image is very good, but it is the atmosphere that makes it attractive. It almost looks like a painting. An outstandingly composed view on the lake! TFS!

Hi Lasse. A break from the usual perfect day shots, where the sky is NOT blue. I like the stillness and the overall wet look. Nicely composed with all the ingredients:moss, stone, tree, water and sky (plus rain.) Regards. Klaudio.

Hello Lasse,

As judged by the images in TE the rainy days are very very few!
It is nice to see this typical rain scene, low light is well managed even if colours are a bit muted...
A balanced composition with good depth!
