Three masted barque Statsraad Lehmkuhl on evening light at Aurajoki river, Turku at the Tall Ships' Race 2009.

Statsraad Lehmkuhl was built in 1914 in Bremerhaven, Germany as a training ship for the German merchant navy and originally called Grossherzog Friedrich August.
She was used as a stationary school ship in Germany for most of the First World War, becoming a trophy of war at the end of the war. She was bought by the Norwegian Shipowners Association in 1923 at the instigation of Kristofer Lehmkuhl after whom the ship was named, in order to further sail training in Norway.

Hi Kari
This seems like the Portuguese Sagres (but she was not at the Tall Ships' Race 2009; she's now somewhere on the North Atlantic between Halifax and Belfast).
The photo seems a little bit dark, but's not a big deal.

The ship is huge which we can tell thanks to the buildings behind which give the scale perfectly. The evening light is casting pleasant golden tones over the scene.

A beautiful ship and an atmospheric photo shot in beautiful evening light. Aurajoki river sure is an ideal place for hosting this kind of event. Thanks for sharing!

Hello Kari,

It is a beautiful ship indeed!
And i don't dare say otherwise or my Bergen friends will come after me hehehe...
Something I assume is evening light paints the ship in lovely pastels, but maybe the SL deserved a different background..!
