Photographer’s Note

Two types of Finnish diesel locomotives on the railway line between Tampere and Pori on a darkening autumn afternoon.

Dv12 on the left is the most numerous diesel engine in Finland. 192 of them were built between 1963 and 1984 by Valmet and Lokomo factories. Despite their age the series is still in active use.

Dr12 on the right was a heavy six axle diesel engine class of Finnish Railways. They were also built in 1959-1963 by Valmet and Lokomo in Tampere. Engines were in regular service until 1990. Here it is on a special railfan trip.
