Photographer’s Note
Finland does not have high mountains, but it wouldn't be fair to call it entirely flat either. Finnish bedrock is remains of ancient mountains billions of years old. And ice ages have removed loose soil revealing uneven rock formations, and lower mostly lake covered areas between them. All that loose soil was pushed to ridge formations made of sand and gravel.

Hello Kari. The small forest landscape works like a painting from the time of the romance. Above all the tree in the foreground gives shape and expression to the photo. Exemplary composes, very natural colors. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hei Kari,
A small corner of beautiful Finnish nature in a good composition. The mystical darkness of the lake and the undergrowth of the forest behind the lake are beautifully contrasted by the fresh green of the birches, their white trunks and the blue sky. The foreground pine is the eye-catcher here and the topmost cloud completes the scene nicely.

Hi Kari,
For us here in this flat country Finland is famous for all the wood we import from there, so no surprise you show some trees ;-)
The pov is nice, just as the exposure because there is a very good balance vetween sky and details deep inside the forest, i like that part a lot.
Regards,
Henk

Hello Kari,
You wonder how the roots system gets enough purchase from that rocky ground to support that enormous weight.
A very apt title, the tree does look like it is defying gravity.
Well spotted and captured perfectly, a fine quality image.

Hi Kari,
I've never been to Finland (except for a few days in Helsinki), but this is really the idea I have of the landscape outside of the city areas: huge woodlands with tall pine trees surrounding many small lakes. I like the way you've placed the trunk in the corner.
Cheers.

Hello Kari,
pine-trees always attract my attention - especially those which grow in the North (for example, if I compare them to those which grow in Moscow and around it) - they are of different colours and shape. Rather curious... and often fairy-talish. And they often grow in incredible conditions (like this one, in your photo)!
Very beautiful capture!
Best regards,
Elena

Hello
Forest how enchanted, beauty this pine on first plan. Finland is very bautiful country, unfortunately pictures do not tell anything about mosquitoes and downs. This so on margin. Congratulations.
Best Regards
Joseph
