Photographer’s Note

Norway Maple (Acer platanoides) in its autumn colors can be very attractive, and frustrating to have nearby when the big leaves are found everywhere... In this region (below 62N), it can grow wild, but it survives also outside its natural range. It belongs to a group of leaf trees that is very common in middle Europe, but is quite rare to grow wild in Scandinavia, mostly because the best places for them to grow have been adapted for cultivation.
