Photographer’s Note
The nature reserve of Espoo Bay is located in the narrow oak zone of the southern coast of Finland. The area consist mainly of flat old sea bottom. Exceptions are two hills in the area, one of which is Fiskarsinmäki hill. Fiskarsinmäki hill is the most important part of the nature reserve as it is a grove, where one can fine such trees as Small-leaved lime, Wych Elm and Common Hazels, all not so common in Finland where pines, birches and spruces dominate. Fiskarsinmäki is worth of seeing especially in the spring, when Wood Anemone, Yellow Wood Anemone and Common Hepatica are flowering. Big boulders on the top of the hill are giving the hilltop a special look.
A glimpse of Espoo Bay can be seen just behind the big old tree.
In WS is a photo from the top of the hill with the boulders.

Good morning, Lasse!
There's a lot of spring in your photo, the green, the light - the whole atmosphere. I think this impression is even stronger in the workshop photo. A truly inviting scenery...
Greetings from sunny Westphalia - and have a nice day!

Hej Lasse,
A very plain and ordinary view for any Scandinavian, but with great beauty in its simplicity. The old, mossy tree to the right standing among its younger relatives, the many varieties of green, the blue sky visible among the still naked branches.

Hej Lasse,
I agree with Frank here, in fact this photo reminds me of this photo that he uploaded some days ago. This is also a very inviting scene, where I would like to walk along the path here. Here you can also enjoy a view of the sea, not possible in the Rothaargebirge...

Ahhh, yes, I see Espoo Bay, a view I would have missed, had you not mentioned it. Inviting walk through "early spring" woods. I always want to walk on through such open deciduous woods. Thanks, Judy

Hello Lasse,
now we are coming back to that fairy-talish area where a little mysterious trees are waking up little by little after a long winter sleep :) I keep saying that your WS photos are well worth being "standalone", main posts!
In this case, the WS photo is not only a very good one, but it is also an excellent addition to make the impression complete :)
Only a true Nature-lover can take such photos, finding beauty in simple landscapes.
Kind regards,
Elena

Hello Lasse,
I can see Finland is awakening from the long winter!
But actually it doesn’t seem Finland at all, more like Sardinian woods…
And, as I’ve discovered soon, woods are the most difficult subject to photograph, either there are too many focal points – like here – or -if you take it from a distance- none at all. And that’s why often photographers include a house, a boulder or a river. Your picture reminds me about some similar ones Bobo shot, and if you remember he wisely added one or two people with red garments. But I don’t agree with this choice of his, even if it’s a successful one. I prefer the peaceful solitude of the nature alone. (you know Henry David Thoreau “Walden, ovvero La vita nei boschi”). So it was a difficult composition and you chose the purest and hardest way. You deserve a praise for that choice of yours.
The photo has a very good light and thanks to its sharpness everything, ground, grass, trunks, is depicted very clearly. Surely a scenery that every nature lover will appreciate. And somehow the atmosphere is that of springtime, and as I told you it strongly reminds me of my spring walks in the hills near Cagliari. Even the big tree at the right (a Wych Elm?) it’s a familiar sight to me.
And this shot hints that you have overcome your cold and resumed your nice walk in your neighbourhood… very good!
Have a nice day,
Donato
P.S.
I like the ws too, but somehow I prefer this one.

Hello Lasse,
I find both pictures very nice, it's very difficult make a choice between the two pictures, I prefer the WS with the big stones.
Composition and presentation are superb. TFS.
Best regards,
John.

Hello Lasse.
It's not easy to take a good shot in a wood like this, with high contrast light. You have made a nice photo, realistic and pleasant to look.
Best regards.
Bobo.
