Photographer’s Note

Town of Hanko on the southern edge of Finland is known for it's wooden villas. A good example is hotel Villa Maija surrounded by lush early summer foliage.

Light differences made this a tricky shot to process. Basic adjustments were done in 16 bit mode to keep noise under control. I used unsharp mask more than normally to get some contrast without loosing darker areas into shadows.

This is one part that I love in Finland. The wooden house are fabulous and have great colors. This kind of construction fit so well with the nature, It's excellent!
Your PP is very nice and give a good result with this difficult light.

The unsharp mask is the one of the things I noticed at first sight and, this time, was a good idea.

Hi Kari,
I think that you managed well the light (originally or post-processing). But the color seems a little desaturated; or it is just that way.

It recalls me some houses on the Baltic coast of Lithuania.

What a maginificent example of Baltic architecture. Reminds me a bit of Jurmala, just outside Riga, or the setting for Tarkovsky's 'The Sacrifice'.
