Winter seascape Photo

Photographer’s Note

During the hike two days ago, I also managed to find my way to a place, where I could see the open, but ice covered sea. Almost every meter of seafront is inhabited around this place and expensive looking houses have been erected everywhere. With the help of an accurate map I found a stripe of unoccupied land leading to the water line. :-) Would have been easy with skis, but I was walking and had to plod through the soft snow in a small forest. I was rewarded by by a beautiful view over the ices. Behind the island there is open sea with no ice cover and the next thing to meet would be a cape in Estonia, 68 km away.I intentionally framed the view so that the house next on the right did not fit into the photo. ;-) What an amazing view they have though!

Another outstanding view of this dreamlike winter landscape. Here too it's the light that impresses most the observer, a light that seems to permeate ice, water and even the stones.
The other main feature which I like is the great sense of space and openess enhanced by the view of that small island in the horizon and a sky with beautiful cloud formations. One word come to my mouth:the Great North!

Hello Lasse,
this is amazing how the clouds in the sky repeat the "rocky clouds" on the ice and snow! (or vice versa?)
A dynamic scene, by the way! a nice game of light and shadows, and of the scattered rocks. Very beautiful!

Good morning, Lasse!
What a landscape - so different to mine! This wideness for me is most impressive and these small wooded islands seem to swim on the ice. Your note reminds me of the lakefront of Lago Maggiore. There also it nearly is impossible to have access to water because of the properties of the so called rich ... always again an offence.

beautiful image, a fascinating landscape that gives the feeling to be on the moon. Ample spaces and endless sky with a great depth, this is an image that in the north Italy is impossible to see because the territory is very inhabited. You are fortunate to have the possibiltà to rejoyce with the uncontaminated nature. We are fortunate because we can admire your beautiful photos. Thanks!

A superb depht of field for this nice winter's landscape. An impression of immensity, of beauty too. The white color of the snow is very well exposed. Interesting POV very well selected. Good photowork.

Hi Lasse,

Interesting view. It is the type of Baltic shore that we do not have in Poland - with quite a big rocks. It is very impressive to see it frozen. Beautiful light.
