Beautiful but dangerous sunset. The haze is from small particles that the cars have risen from the street.

In spring time here in North we have a special problem of pollution. It is the sand that has been trown on the steets. When the sun smelts snow and ice sand is left on the asphalt and the cars blow it in the air.

The towns and cities have equipment to collect this dust away but they want to save money, or at least they think they save money, and wait for rains to take care of the problem. Unfortunately in the sprintime it is usually sunny and the dust is inhaled by the pedestrians.

Hoping for the town to take care of the problem better this year!

As shot. No cropping. Some sharpening for the web that unfortunately also took away some of the dusty pollution. Minor framing.

Any comments and hints appreciated.

Hi Pentti,

beautiful sunset as you said but with hazardous consequences. I like the framing you took to show us the closing time traffic and people nearly forced to inhale this toxic dust. For the people living there I hope that the town takes care of peoples' health this year else they could have a health care problem in the future with ill people.

It's true that sometimes negative things can be beautiful, this orange glow is inspiring but the passers by don't seem to notice it...

(NB : sorry for the delay and thank you for the workshop that you did one month ago and to which I just answered now... not bad, given the fact that you had to start from a very small photo ; having moved to Flickr, I have there the possibility to improve my photos and replace them as often as I wish, so I have a better version (not perfect) here :
