Photographer’s Note
Sailing ship Pommern is a four-masted barque that was built 1903 in Glasgow at J. Reid & Co shipyard.
She serves as a museum ship as a memory the great fleet of sailingships, who once had the town as their homeport. Pommern is unique in that she is still in orginal condition and is shown as the chargoship she once was. All other existing ships in her class have been rebuilt at some time.
And she is still taller than modern cruise ferries sailing on the Baltic Sea today.

Hello Kari,
Beautiful POV from high above. The vertical format really show the height of the sail boat. Nice details and natural colors, good light, good composition. Very inviting image, make me want to go on a sail away in the big wide open sea. Really nice work. Have a good weekend.

Hi Kari,
I love it, great shot.
What a shame it isn't out there sailing the world for all to see.

Hi Kari, how are you? I like the vetical cut accentuating the height of the tall ship and also the symmetry of the masts. I find ships like this difficult to shoot because of their movement, so the sharpness is admirable. I hope you don't mind me doing a Workshop on it, hope you like it. Best regards,
Lisa

Hi Kari,
It's a very elegant ship indeed and you present it wonderfully, taking good profit of a vintage point. If those houses weren't there we couldn't notice how big and tall it is.
Regards, José.

Hi Kari,
Nice boat series you've posted lately. This one is really amazing and it looks like you had a great POV to take the picture too. This view from above really shows the size and height of the ship. It wouldn't have had the same impact if you'd taken the shot from the bank.
Have a nice day.

Hi Kari,
You have chosen an excellent POV for this shot. From where is it taken from top of the mast of another sailing ship? Very good use of the spring lighting and needless to say that a vertical picture is perfect here. TFS and have a nice evning!
Cheers,
Ulf

Hi Kari,
That is an amazing ship. You show it well; as Ulf comments, the high point of view is very effective (and unique). I also agree with Jose's comments the the houses reinforce it's great height. I wonder why it has never been rebuilt.
I recently read that people in Finland are the second happiest country in the world (after Denmark) and I thought of you.

Oh yes, the Aland archpelago, the Pommer and the musuem there, all the souvenirs from Erikson's fleet. I went there in 2005 and it was a beautifull visit.
All the best,
Emmanuel

Hello Kari,
the photo taken from almost the bird's eye view presents an excellent composition, with the distant hazy landscapes against which the ship looks grand and proud. And the red houses next to the ship enliven the view :) I like the atmosphere of this photo, and I like the ship itself!
Very best wishes from rainy cold Moscow,
Elena

Kari, this one is a beauty, both the ship and the shot. It is always great to see these giants of the sea retire gracefully instead of sinking or rotting away. Love the angle you used, the masts and yards are distinct but the clutter of them works well as a subject. Great work.
