Photographer’s Note
Aavasaksa is the hill that is the most southern and easiest to reach place where it's possible to enjoy midnight sun in Finland. It's located just south of the arctic circle, but as it's higher than its surroundings to the north, the sun doesn't go below the horizon in midsummer.
The place is famous of its midsummer parties and was one of the first places in Lapland with organised tourism. Not bad for a peak only 242 metres above the sea level!

A great image of this lone tree - fascinating branches which grow twisted and sparse.
Good work,

Hi Kari, nice use of the vertical here to accentuate height of the mountains and this unusual tree. I can;t believe anything could grow that high above sea level. But I stand corrected. Nice and sharp, good use of the aperture f/10 too. TFS, Lisa

Hi Kari,
I'm confused, are we on the hill or is that the hill in the background, not that it matters I just want to be sure of where I'm going for when I attend one of those midsummer parties. I've been to Finland a couple of times so I know what to expect.
The tortured limbs of the foreground tree look amazing, in fact all the trees look amazing.
Nice work.

Peter

Hello Kari, Those trees are an interesting specimen, the one in the FG looks even more interesting mainly due to the almost bare & very twisted branches. It almost looks as though it is growing out of those rocks. Your is interesting, we tend to forget that the sun never goes down in summer. Interesting scene, good natural colours & detail.
Thanks

Hello Kari,
really, very beautiful!... a little romantic and a little sad at the same time. I find the depth excellent in this photo: very good, interesting gradual transition from these boulders (which are so clear and sharp) in the FG via the half-dried tree to the valley in the haze..
Best regards,
Elena

Hello and thank you for your critique!
I love the composition here and this interesting old tree. But the (obviously) unclear atmosphere does not do the image justice. I tried a little workshop. Not much, but I think some contrast can work miracles here! Hope you don't mind.
Cheers, Ioanna
