Photographer's Note
‘Tallinn – Invasion’
Again an older picture, one I took in the summer of 2006.
Travelling by boat over the Gulf of Finland from Helsinki toTallinn I was looking out to the arrival in the Estonian capital.
Tallinn, also Estonia's largest city, then counted about 400.000 inhabitants and therefore still belonged to the smaller capitals in Europe.
Upon arrival I saw that giant cruise ship. This seemed to me like a real tourist invasion in Tallinn.
Afterwards it appeared that there were indeed many visitors in the old Hanseatic town. But this could in no way disrupt the fun of visiting the very beautiful and picturesque historical old town.

This shot recalls me recent sad memories, and it's a great demonstration that there are silly men everywhere.
I'm not a cruiser-lover and now less then ever, what this monster has to do so near at this UNESCO World Heritage?
A splendid sky and, where visible, a wonderful town.
Ciao,
Elena

Hello Paul,
such a lovely view with puffy clouds well included. The excitement and the dramatic composition is well achieved with the emphasized ship and the city skyline.

Hello Paul,
I´ve been there in 2005, and I had the same impression: lots of tourists around, all gathering in the small old-town-area, and ambershops by the dozen! but it is worth a visit.
Very beautiful skyline-picture, but perhaps a little bit much water in the foreground?
Best regards,
Elvira

Hi Paul,
Superb sharpness & the huge passenger liner dominates the scene. Good color saturation & framing. We don't see that many uploads from Estonia either so good to add one more! Tfs. Bon semaine!

Hi Paul,
Excellent picture, the subject reminds me of my own photo experience with those huge cruise monsters:) It's blocking half of the old town with its gorgeous architecture but leaving us the other half to enjoy:))
Fantastic details on the cruise liner, it's a pity the light was that harsh and the sky suffered a bit, but it certainly didn't destroy the view.
Cheers

Hi Paul
Great invasion indeed by looking at the size. An interesting viewpoint and i like the positions of everything, the way you've filled the frame. Each element of the photo invites you to look a little more and wonder but I do like the dof you have chosen. It's an interesting subjects with lots of detail and the colours work really well in it and difficult to ignore those wonderful fluffy cotton clouds. Another fine work, Congrats

This mighty cruise-ship gave the city building a scale that they look tiny in comparison, Paul.
Impressive vessel, futuristic design, in so much contrast to old town towers and seafront scenery.
Enjoy a nice weekend,

Hi Paul.
A wonderful image of this city do not know, but that seems perfect, everything looks so in harmony, that is a pleasure, only the "monster" of the sea seems to be superfluous in such idyllic place, but gives a good contrast to the composition.
The brightness is ideal, with the cloudy sky gives a great charm.
Wonderful job, I love it.
Have a good weekend.
Best wishes.
Luis.
