winter last day Photo

Photographer’s Note

There is a place in Tartu, in the very middle of the town, where children and everybody can sled. Me either in my child- and studenthood. It is a big pit that was formed because of 19th century excavations for some building works.
The day was not very bright so I added lightening by using PS curves.

This photograph is it like a postcard . I wish you would have taken in it a little closer to the children . I would like to see the expression on their faces . Otherwise this is an excellent job !

There is something very attractive about that shot, almost like a Christmas card. The composition is very good with the crowd of kids to the right and the sled leading to the house in the background. It gives a lot of depth to the image. I don't know how you processed exactly the colors but I like how it came out with patches of bright colors on a more almost sepia toned trees. I tried a WS to frame the main motive more tight to make them more visible.

Weren´t it for the clothes those kids are wearing and I could swear this was a hand painted engraving from late XIX century. I love the over-allness of the white (though it´s not really white) and the balance of the colours and dark elements on the picture. Very nicely framed. The central ocre colour does give it an "earthly" feeling too. One thing I usualy hate in my pictures but looks great on your composition is the flat featureless sky, Like they´re all involved in one of those souvenir shake-it-for-snow paperwheights. Surreal!

Good composition showing the children at the top of the hill, plus showing them at the bottom. Like the way you included the tree branch on the top left which is covering a plain sky. The colours are good against the white snow. I like it a lot. Well done, Jelena.

Дугами у тебя хорошо получается пользоваться, зеленоватый оттенок здесь уместен и создаёт художественный эффект.
