The light in the entire Baltic region is particular. It has to do with being fairly far north, of course, and the sun following a lower trajectory over the horizon than in warmer climates. But it also has to do with the low salt content of the Baltic Sea and the grey dark waters that can resemble the North Atlantic, but not quite. And very often it has to do with effect of the Gulf Stream on the entire region, blowing lots of humidity across Scandinavia in the shape of impressive cloud formations. It is a light that painters have always struggled to capture, as it changes many times in the course of an hour. Photographers are luckier in that respect, in that they don't need hours to capture it. This is a beach south of Copenhagen, facing east towards Sweden.
