Here is another site along Mølleådalen. This is a mill located just east of the corner of the Frilands Museum and this building is actually owned by the museum. It is only about 100 years old, compared to some of the older mills in the area, and is located along a busy street as opposed to many of the mills downstream from here. Probably due to it's location, some enterprising graffiti artist couldn't resist.
I guess I'm getting old but graffiti really bothers me, especially when it is on buildings that are protected as a piece of Danish national heritage. I'm all for young people expressing themselves but not at the expense of national history.
Technically speaking I chose this picture, specifically because you see the whole building with the graffiti. I've sharpened it and adjusted for color. |

Hello Kate,
I agree, this graffiti is mis-placed and offends the dignity of the lovely old building. Graffiti is acceptable, and can be very enjoyable, when applied to otherwise colourless, featureless urban areas where it adds life and, at its best, wit and creativity. On the building you have photographed the graffiti is just the act of a selfish individual. However, we can still admire the handsome mill with its pretty arched windows and steeply sloping roof.
Best wishes....Maggie
Kate - it is a shame when people vandalize wonderful buildings. They must have very low self respect and care little for the history and the culture. In Australia - a hundred year old building IS old - we don't have the rich heritage and wonderful buildings. Our heritage is in the land not on it...
