Workshop - Interior of Grundtvig's Church
________________

High up on Bispebjerg in the north-western part of Copenhagen stands Grundtvig's Church, which on account of its size and position can be seen far and wide in the northern area of the city.

It was constructed in the years 1921-40 and was the last sizeable church to be built under the influence of the national-romantic movement. The yellow brickwork church - of cathedral proportions - is an impressive edifice, which combines historical forms with functionalistic simplicity.

The church was erected as a monument to the theologian and hymn-writer N. F. S. Grundtvig, and the foundation-stone was laid in 1921 in the 138th year of his birth on 8th September.

In 1930 - before the church was completed - the architect, P.V. Jensen-Klint, died, and his son, Kaare Klint, who also designed many of the furnishings, continued the work.

10 years later the finished church could finally be consecrated - on Grundtvig's 157th birthday. One of the church's two organs, the choir organ, dates from the same year. Marcussen & Søn built it in 1940, and the façade was designed by Kaare Klint. In 1965 the main organ was erected in the west end - also built by Marcussen & Søn. This time the façade was designed by Esben Klint, who was the son of Kaare Klint and therefore the grandson of the church's master builder.

Hello George,
I'm always impressed by the clarity of your picture and this is no exception. Great symmetrical point of view. The road lead the eyes faithfully up to the focal point of the church. I like very much your ws too, especially the first with that almost magic light you were able to catch. Bravo.
Kind Regards.
Stella

Dear George
I like this symmetrical picture thanks to your perspective and POV and the cars in the both side gives a really contrasty effect to your photo such like a human element... Great work bravo ihsan

Hello George,
A good capture of this modern looking church with its interesting lines. I like how the houses on either side of the road decrease in height and channel the vision towards the main subject. Very good colours and clarity.

Very unique and beautiful architecture. It looks HUGE!!! I'm so glad you included pictures of the interior. Very nice pov!! It looks magnificient! TFS

Hello George

A marvellous blue sky, with an interesting 'w' shape formed by the architecture. Good sharpness & framing. The road, & lines of cars, add superb linear perspective. Tfs!

George, what a shot, the church looks Orwellian, it is so futuristic from the visions of the first half of the last century, great capture.

Greg

Hello George,
What is striking is the division between light and shadow, which is well dedfined in this frame!
Striking is also the design of the church, if you didn't mention in the note I'd guess it is later than 1920ties for sure...
Interesting symmetry in the street architecture lends a special impact to the image!
Greetings,
Pablo -

George,
This is a fine shot of this great church. Your composition is nice using the buildings on each side to guide the eye to the main subject. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF. The play of sun and shadow creates nice contrast in the photo. The deep blue sky gives a nice backdrop for the photo.
TFS,
Asa

Hello Georg,
belle symétrie bienvenue et parfaite.
L'exposition bien réglée permet de profiter tant des zones de soleil que des zones d'ombre.
Une rue très propre et des voiture qui attirent un peu trop le regard.
Bien à toi.
Daniel.

Hi George,
Another nice shot from Denmark. Wonderful framing & symmetry. I like the two rows of cars too that lead us directly to the main door of the church. Nice blur & cyan sky. Regards. Latiff.

An impressive and original piece of architecture, for sure !
I like a lot this compo, with great depth and perspective.
Very good job,
Regards,
JB.

ciao George, ho visitato questa chiesa una decina di anni fa, ottima l'inquadratura che hai dato con i due edifici ai lati che sembrano riprenderne l'architettura e la fila delle auto che segnano il percorso verso l'entrata.
saluti
maurizio
