Photographer's Note

Some time ago we were invited to a wedding service in the village church of Aastrup in Denmark. This is a typical Danish village church, except that they are normally red or white. This one immediately struck me as the Big Pink house of God. It actually dates back to the 12th century and I searched the Internet for detailed information on it, but couldn't find any. The inside of the church contains some of the most beautiful medieval wall paintings in Denmark, and there are funny details such as the remnants of a door for women (yes, in medieval Denmark men and women used separate doors for entering the house of worship). I may come back and post some of those details later - and even a picture of the happy couple, bride from Denmark, groom from Canada, so in many ways a TE event.
It was a lovely day, so I have only filtered with NI and resized for the web.
